Major cloud computing law summit in London next month will address enterprise data security concerns

Firms are being invited to take part in a major cloud computing law summit in London next month, which will address their enterprise cloud data concerns.
Legal and commercial experts from the US and the UK will attend the Cloud Law Summit on 10 February. Analysts like Gartner and IDC predict there will be an increase in the take up of cloud computing services in 2010, but many firms are concerned about the security of their data.
Hosted by BroadGroup, the summit will tackle legal issues surrounding privacy, security, the EU Data Protection Directive, the implications of the US Patriot Act, internet geography and compliance mechanisms.

Private law firms and inhouse counsel will share the platform with business, technology and enterprise leaders in the first event of its type in Europe. Academic experts, government officials, investors and professional intermediaries will also be in attendance, said BroadGroup
The summit follows the second annual PoweredByCloud conference, also hosted by BroadGroup, in London on 8-9 February. There will be over 50 speakers across the two events, including those from Amazon, Berwin Leighton Paisner, BT, Cisco, Dechert, Denton Wilde Sapte, HP, IBM, Lanier, Microsoft, Proskauer, and Intel, among others.

“The uptake of Cloud technology and services is widely predicted to surge in 2010, but many major enterprises remain cautious about privacy and security,” said Dominic Lowndes, managing director of the TMT Group at BroadGroup. “The summit will provide the first opportunity for a transatlantic debate to understand the major issues surrounding the location of data and the influence of international regulation and law in North America and Europe.”
